Wasn’t it your dream — to be right where you are now?
Have you taken a moment to truly see it — not just with your eyes, but with your heart?
So many of us walk through life chasing the next big thing — the next goal, the next milestone, the next version of ourselves. But in that constant pursuit, we forget something deeply important: where we are today is exactly where we once longed to be.
It’s easy to forget. Life gets loud, messy, and complicated. But the truth is simple — you might be living inside a dream you once whispered to yourself when no one else was listening.
One year ago, I was just a man with a dream.
Not a loud dream, not a perfectly polished plan. Just a quiet fire burning inside. I wanted to be heard. I wanted to do something extraordinary — not for applause, not for fame — but to prove to myself that I could. That I had something to say. That I could create something that would last, something that came entirely from me.
I didn’t know how. And honestly, that “how” nearly stopped me.
Because that’s the trap, isn’t it? We think we need the full map before we take the first step. We think we need to be fully prepared before we begin. But dreams don’t wait for perfect timing. They wait for courage.
So I did the only thing I could do — I started.
I created my Facebook page.
I started sharing my thoughts, my stories, my heart.
Then I wrote a Christmas book. Then another. Then a third.
I built a website — a little home for my work, my voice, my journey.
I took the first step, then another, and another after that.
And now, one year later, I look around — and this is it.
I’m living in the middle of the very dream I once didn’t know how to start.
And no, it’s not perfect. There are still challenges, doubts, and days when progress feels invisible. But I’m doing it. I became the person I hoped I could be.
And so can you.
If there’s something burning inside you — a story, a message, a project, a hope — don’t wait for everything to make sense. Don’t wait for permission. Don’t wait for the fear to disappear.
Start.
Move, create, explore. You don’t have to be sure. You just have to begin.
Because one year from now, you might look back at this moment and realize — this was the beginning of everything.
You already have what you need: belief and bravery.
You already have the most powerful fuel: the desire to do something meaningful.
Let the rest unfold along the way.
And when the road feels unclear, remember this:
Your dream isn’t somewhere far away.
It might already be under your feet.

As someone who is currently where you were a year ago, your words are a quiet reassurance — like a lighthouse in the distance, reminding me that I’m not lost. Thank you for sharing your journey with such honesty. It’s comforting to know that the path ahead, though uncertain, has been walked before.

Hello,
you described it beautifully.
You never know where it will lead you, but you have to listen to your heart and be brave and just start. It’s liberating. You have to do it for yourself and everything else will fall into place.
At first, I only wrote for myself.
But at some point, the thought came to me that I wanted to find a place for it in the world, as if the words wanted to get out of my little book.
Just to be there. Somewhere.

What an inspiring post, Georgi!
The best moment to reach for a dream is not tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, next week, or next year. It is this moment, now. Take action, and we are one step closer to what we desire.
No one can be perfect from the very start. Everyone can progress day by day. We have a Chinese proverb, which means the best time to plant a tree is ten years ago. A dream takes time to become a reality, so the sooner we start, the better.
A lot of guys are unhappy because they do not know they are already living their dream. The problem is that they are too greedy. They are always striving for something they do not really need. They just want it, for face, for competition, or for fame.
Very pleased to run into your nice blog, Georgi. As I explore your posts more, I think I will get to know you better.
I am from China, writing in English on the Web. I am living my dream. I run a blog and a podcast, both of which have helped me grow tremendously as a teacher of English. I never thought I would be able to be where I am now, but I am. We are so much like each other.
Best wishes, Mr Kisyov.

Inspiring…profound.
Once long ago, when I was too engrossed in navigating the morasses of my mad (self-made!) present to reflect, to contemplate the future, a dear friend murmured: “Is the child you were content in the man that you are…”
Your words carry the same power.

I must tell you, that as I subscribed just now…I’m weeping. Indeed, your site does feel like the home of a neighbor perhaps…full of all the meaningful things we all need (especially if some of us are old & alone, which does NOT necessarily mean “lonely or unhappy”–it’s simply a different segment of society I guess).
Thank you, thank you for being here–thank you for visiting my new blog so I’d know to come over and and say “hello”. May God richly bless you and yours (your son, family, friends) from His unlimited abundance. Rene

Oh thank you so much. I have to tell you that you remind me of a dear poet (blogger)…he passed away years ago now–but I’ll never forget him. He was such a kind and generous man who was very supportive of me–and to others too. The blog world is a big place, lots of good writers, good people…but there are just a small handful who stand out somehow…maybe they’re more genuine.
You’ve blessed my day so much–do I call you Georgi? I don’t want to be disrespectful in any way.
PS: I want to say that I too LOVE Christmas!! God bless you. Rene 🎄

Good reminder! It’s so easy to look backwards and wish.. or run towards the next dream..
When younger and raising my children I thought it impossible to ever be published… now that I’m older I sometimes look back and wish for those days… but the truth is I’m presently immersed in yesterday’s impossible… finalist for a poetry contest held by Notre Dame… over 30 poems published in Lit Journals.. signed a traditional contract for my poetry collection last October… endorsed by former US Poet Laureate, Juan Felipe Herrera, Former Young People’s Laureate, Margarita Engel, and current Ca Poet Laureate Lee Herrick.. and you know what I’ve found? That living the dream isn’t the same as the dream itself.. it’s very good.. but it’s now.. without soft wisps framing the hope for heaven on earth. It is good and solid and the pear which bursts forth from spring blossoms… both are so very beautiful in their own way.
Thank you for the reminder:)

Hi, Georgi,
As I was reading your post, I was reminded of the simple fact that my husband and my children are what my dream was many years ago. It’s sometimes difficult to remember that the routine of life could be what someone dreamt of long ago, and your words reminded me that I need to be thankful and present in this dream every single day.
Thank you for the beautiful reminder; you write in such a way that it is inspiring as well as comforting.

Hello,
And thank you so much for sharing this with me. What you wrote is so deeply true—it’s easy to forget that what feels like “routine” today was once the very dream we hoped and prayed for. I’m incredibly touched that my words reminded you of that. Your family sounds like a beautiful part of your journey, and I’m honored to have reached your heart today. ❤️✨

Great advice. You can’t wait for conditions to be perfect. Just get started. A proverb I like is, “He who will only ride a perfect horse must learn to walk.”
LikeLiked by 1 person
I love that proverb—it’s such a vivid reminder that waiting for perfection can keep us from moving at all. Sometimes the best thing we can do is simply take the first step, even if the path (or the horse!) isn’t exactly what we imagined. Thank you for sharing this🌿🐎.
Have a great weekend!

I really love how you’ve captured the feeling of arriving at a place you once dreamed about. It’s inspiring — and it’s a good reminder that the journey often starts long before we feel “ready.”
For me, I think my dream is still just a little further down the road. I can see it, and I’m working towards it, but I’m not quite there yet. That said, I’m learning to enjoy where I am right now. The steps, the progress, the small wins — they all matter just as much as the destination.
Your words are a nudge to appreciate this stage of the process, not just rush to the finish line. Sometimes, the dream isn’t just the end point — it’s also the path you take to get there.

Absolutely! I am so thankful as well. I am not as consistent as I might want to be at blogging because I am a F/T student. But I do love getting to take a little mental vacation and write, and read other people’s blog stories. You are really good at it. I aspire to be. 🙂

Thank you so much for your kind words. I really admire that you’re balancing full-time studies with writing—that in itself is a big achievement. Even if you’re not as consistent as you’d like, the fact that you carve out time to write and read is wonderful. Those “mental vacations” matter, and they often bring out some of our best reflections. Keep going—you already have the heart of a writer, and consistency will come with time. 🌿✨
