Today is not just another day—it is the day my mother came into this world. And because of that, it is also the day that shaped mine. I owe every step, every risk, and every dream to the woman who gave me life, love, and courage.

To me, she is more than a parent. She is a safe harbor, a constant light, and the gentlest strength I know. I wish her a birthday filled with the same warmth she has poured into me all these years—may her heart feel as cherished as she has always made mine feel.

Happy Birthday, Mom. This is for you.

We come from many places.
Some are streets and cities.
Others are names and memories.
But one of my homes will always be the woman who became my mother.

Before I had a name, she gave me her heartbeat.
Before I opened my eyes, she opened her arms.
Before I could ask for anything, she already knew what I needed.

A mother is not just the beginning. She is the middle and the quiet in between.
She is the blanket on cold nights, the whisper behind your courage,
the warm meal that waits no matter how late you come back.

She was there when I took my first step—and every step since,
even if I didn’t always see her.
Even if I didn’t always understand how much she gave up
so I could grow up.

She carried me before I knew the weight of anything.
And even now, when the world feels heavy,
just hearing her voice makes everything lighter.

She is one of my homes.
The kind that doesn’t show up on a map,
but lives in my skin, my choices, my love.

ОБИЧАМ ТЕ, МАМО!

  1. You honor your mother so beautifully, Georgi. Reading your words brought tears to my eyes. I lost my own mom 23 years ago, and even now, I miss her every day. I often wonder if she’s proud of the woman I’ve become. Your post reminded me that love like theirs never leaves—it lives in our choices, our courage, and the quiet ways we keep going.

Thank you for sharing such a personal memory with me. I truly believe your mother is proud of the woman you’ve become—love like that never fades, it just changes its form. I’m honored my words could bring her presence a little closer for you today.
      Have a great day.

    2. Agreed! – we may have driven our mothers crazy when they were with us, but they loved us, were and are proud of us. The years they have been gone doesn’t dim that love or missing them, 30 years last month and it still feels like yesterday. ~ Rosie

  2. With the epidemic of ‘no contact’ it is delightful to read one person’s unveiled love and admiration for their mother. Would that my own sons gifted me such deep, loving words. Thank you for touching my heart this morning.

  3. This is beautiful. I cried as I read it. I am reminded of my mom. She lives in assisted living 5 hours away. She has dementia. We talk on the phone often…..she has me on speed dial on her landline. I never know how well her brain will be processing from day to day. Your post reminds me though of the many ways she took care of me as I grew and matured. Now the roles are reversed and I am caring for her when I visit. Keep writing and inspiring 😊

    1. Hello,
Thank you for sharing this tender part of your journey. It’s moving to see how love flows both ways—first from mother to child, and later from child to mother. Even in the difficult days, that bond remains unshakable. I admire your devotion and the way you honor her now. Sending you strength and warmth.
Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend.

  6. There’s an old song that says, “Bring me the roses while I’m living; they won’t mean a thing when I’m gone.” In essence, that’s exactly what you’ve done with this beautiful gesture for your mother, and I applaud you for it.

It’s also a gentle reminder of how important it is to give those “roses” — our love, attention, and gratitude — while they still understand. My own mother is 95 now, and in recent months her memory has begun to fade. Some days she doesn’t remember where she is or who she’s speaking to. My sister gets frustrated that Mom still remembers me, but I tell her that’s one of the perks of being the baby of the family — I’ll probably be the last one she forgets.

But I know that day will come. So I say this sincerely: give them the roses while they’re living, because when they’re gone, they won’t be able to smell them, touch them, or smile about them ever again.

    1. Hello,
What a beautiful and profound message—thank you for sharing it. You’re absolutely right, love should be given in the moment, not saved for later. I’m touched by what you wrote about your mother and how deeply you understand this truth. Your words are a reminder to us all to give those ‘roses’ every day, while hearts are still able to feel them.
Have a beautiful rest of the weekend.

  7. Beautifully written tribute from a son who has apparently already learned a great deal in life lessons. Any parent would feel blessed to have children who think so highly of their mother, father, sister, brother, wife, or friend. Have a fantastic Day!
