After publishing Vico’s Christmas Storybook, I felt something beautiful had begun—but not finished. That first book was a celebration of childhood during the holidays: cozy lights, family traditions, snowflakes, and the warm magic of December. But Vico, the boy at the heart of those stories, didn’t disappear when the tree came down. He kept growing. He kept noticing. He kept feeling.
That’s why I wrote Vico’s Big City Storybook. It’s my second book, and it continues the quiet, emotional journey of a curious child—only this time, outside the festive season and into the rhythm of everyday life.
This book contains 13 short stories, each one capturing a small but meaningful moment. A lost cap. A ride on the city bus. A museum visit. A kind stranger. A quiet rooftop. These aren’t fantasy tales or grand adventures. They are stories shaped by real feelings, real questions, and real growth—the kind we all go through as children and often forget as adults.
Vico is inspired by my son. His emotions, his ideas, his wonder. But he also belongs to every child who sees the world a little differently. He’s not a hero with superpowers—he’s a regular boy navigating a big, beautiful, and sometimes overwhelming city. His strength is in his sensitivity. His magic is in his honesty.
What makes this book different is its heart. It doesn’t try to entertain with noise or tricks. It speaks quietly. It invites children to slow down, to notice, to think, to feel. These stories don’t teach lessons with bold headlines—they whisper truths that children will carry with them long after the book is closed.
I believe kids deserve books that reflect who they are—not who we wish they’d be. They deserve characters who struggle, make mistakes, get embarrassed, feel lonely, feel proud. That’s what Vico’s Big City Storybook offers. A mirror. A friend. A safe place to explore big emotions through small, relatable moments.
And this book isn’t just for children. It’s for parents who want to read something meaningful at bedtime. It’s for teachers who want to open gentle conversations about kindness, courage, or curiosity. It’s for anyone who remembers what it was like to feel small in a big city—and still find beauty in the details.
If you enjoyed Vico’s Christmas Storybook, this new collection is its natural companion. And if you haven’t met Vico yet, this is a perfect place to start.
