And just like that, we have reached the last evening of August.

For the past few days, I have been walking through memories.

Some belonged to my childhood. Some to my family. Some were hidden inside sounds, summer evenings, books, walks, trains, and small moments that probably didn’t seem important when they happened.

But somehow, August remembered them.

I don’t know exactly what it is about the last days of this month.

Maybe it is the changing light. Maybe it is the evenings becoming a little shorter. Maybe it is that first almost-invisible feeling that summer is beginning to loosen its grip.

Whatever it is, August always gives me a little sweet nostalgia.

And today, I want to thank it for that.

Thank you, August, for reminding me of the boy I once was.

For bringing back people, places, sounds, and moments I thought I had forgotten.

For reminding me that some of the most precious parts of our lives were once just ordinary days.

Thank you for the crickets singing in the darkness.

For books opened during hot afternoons.

For evening walks.

For underground trains and the excitement in a little boy’s eyes.

For ice cream melodies traveling slowly down a summer street.

And thank you for reminding me that memories don’t always return because we are sad.

Sometimes they return simply because they want to sit beside us for a while.

I don’t feel sad that August is leaving.

Actually, I am ready for September.

I am ready for cooler mornings, changing colors, sweaters, the smell of autumn, and everything the next season will bring. And somewhere beyond autumn, my favorite time of the year is already waiting for me.

But I don’t want to hurry.

There is still one evening left.

One last little piece of August.

So tonight, I won’t say goodbye with sadness.

I will simply say thank you.

Thank you for the summer.

Thank you for the memories.

And thank you, August, for that little sweet nostalgia you bring me every year.

Tomorrow belongs to September.

But tonight, I am still here.
