Have you ever woken up one morning and felt as if the world had somehow lost some of its color?

Nothing terrible happened. There was no big moment that changed everything. Life simply felt a little quieter than usual.

The things that normally make you happy didn’t seem to have the same effect. The book you were excited to read stayed unopened. The sunset outside your window was beautiful, but you barely noticed it. An idea that once filled your head with possibilities suddenly felt ordinary.

Even your dreams seemed farther away.

And when that feeling stays for a while, you may begin to wonder.

What happened to me?

Why don’t I feel excited anymore?

Where did my creativity go?

Did I lose my spark?

Maybe you didn’t lose anything.

Maybe your magic is just resting.

Look at the Trees

Nature understands something about rest that we often forget.

Think about a tree in winter.

A few months earlier, its branches were covered with green leaves. Birds rested in them. The wind moved through them. Perhaps children played in its shade.

Then autumn came.

One by one, the leaves changed color and fell.

Winter followed.

Now the branches are empty. The flowers have disappeared. The grass has lost its bright green color. The ground is cold, and sometimes everything is covered with snow.

The same place that was full of life in June can look almost empty in January.

But we don’t stand beside a bare tree and say, “What happened to you? Why aren’t you blooming?”

We know.

It is winter.

The tree isn’t dead. It hasn’t forgotten how to grow. It hasn’t failed.

Beneath the cold ground, its roots are still there.

The tree is simply resting.

And perhaps we have winters inside us too.

We Cannot Bloom All the Time

Life asks a lot from us.

There are responsibilities, bills, appointments, family needs, work, housework, worries, decisions, and plans for tomorrow. There are days when we move from one thing to another without even noticing how much energy we are spending.

And sometimes our minds and hearts become tired.

Not broken.

Not empty forever.

Just tired.

But we don’t always allow ourselves to have quiet seasons.

We expect ourselves to be excited every day. Creative every day. Motivated every day. Productive every day.

When we aren’t, we start searching for something that must be wrong.

Maybe nothing is wrong.

A tree doesn’t bloom twelve months a year.

Why should we?

There may be days, weeks, or even seasons when the things that usually bring us joy become quieter.

The magic hasn’t disappeared.

It has simply gone somewhere warm to rest.

Your Magic Still Knows Your Name

The beautiful thing about our inner magic is that it doesn’t need to be created again from nothing.

It is already part of us.

Your kindness is still there.

Your imagination is still there.

Your curiosity is still there.

Your ability to laugh until your stomach hurts is still there.

The part of you that dreams, creates, notices beautiful things, gets excited about silly little moments, and believes that tomorrow might bring something wonderful is still there too.

You may not hear it right now.

But quiet doesn’t mean gone.

Think again about that winter tree.

Deep underground, where nobody can see, the roots are holding on.

No applause.

No flowers.

No beautiful green leaves for anyone to admire.

Just quiet work beneath the surface.

Sometimes our lives are like that.

We may think nothing is happening because there is nothing exciting to show.

But perhaps something inside us is resting, healing, gathering strength, or simply waiting.

Don’t Pull on the Branches

When we lose our excitement, our first reaction is often to force it back.

We search for motivation. We make plans. We tell ourselves we should be doing more.

But imagine standing beside a tree in January and pulling on its branches because you want the leaves to grow faster.

It wouldn’t help.

Spring cannot be forced.

And perhaps our inner spring cannot be forced either.

Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is give ourselves room.

Notice something small.

Drink your coffee slowly.

Look through the window.

Take a walk without needing the walk to achieve anything.

Listen to an old song.

Watch the clouds.

Laugh at something ridiculous.

Or simply do nothing for a while.

You don’t have to turn every quiet moment into progress.

Sometimes rest is enough.

One Tiny Green Leaf

Spring rarely arrives all at once.

There isn’t a morning when every tree suddenly becomes completely green.

It begins quietly.

One tiny bud.

One small flower.

One green leaf on a branch that looked empty yesterday.

And maybe our magic returns the same way.

Perhaps one morning you notice the sunrise and stop for a few seconds longer.

Perhaps you pick up that book again.

Perhaps you laugh louder than you have in weeks.

Perhaps an idea suddenly enters your mind and refuses to leave.

Perhaps you feel excited about something small.

And there it is.

One tiny green leaf.

You don’t need to know when your spring will arrive.

You don’t need to rush it.

And you certainly don’t need to be afraid of your winter.

Trust the quiet seasons too.

Because the things that make you you haven’t disappeared.

Your dreams haven’t forgotten you.

Your creativity hasn’t abandoned you.

Your joy hasn’t packed its bags and left.

And your magic?

It is still there, safe and warm somewhere inside you.

Maybe today it doesn’t want to perform.

Maybe today it doesn’t need to shine.

Maybe today…

the magic is just resting.
